Fried Shrimp – These easy crispy crunchy fried shrimps are made in less than 5 minutes where the shrimps coated with breadcrumbs and fried until golden brown perfect for the quick appetizer.
Fried Shrimp – What You’ll Need
Shrimp: I recommend medium to large-sized shrimp, peeled and deveined for easy eating. Fresh is fantastic, but high-quality frozen works just as well (just make sure to thaw it fully!)
Flour: All-purpose flour is our trusty base for that crave-worthy coating.
Spices: A simple combo of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika is classic for a reason.
Eggs: These are the key to ensuring our coating sticks to the shrimp.
Panko Breadcrumbs: These Japanese-style breadcrumbs are the secret to the ultimate crunch!
Oil for frying: A neutral-flavored oil like vegetable or canola is perfect.
Crispy Fried Shrimp – Tips and Tricks
- Don’t overcrowd the pan: Work in batches to maintain oil temperature and get that perfect golden crust.
- Use a thermometer: For foolproof doneness, shrimp should reach an internal temperature of 145°F.
- Flavor boost: Add a pinch of cayenne to the spice mix for a little kick!
Recipe Variations
- Spicy: Add cayenne pepper and a drizzle of hot sauce.
- Coconut Shrimp: Swap panko for sweetened coconut flakes.
- Cajun: Get bold with Cajun seasoning and serve with remoulade.

Best Fried Shrimp – Recipe FAQs
Can I use a different type of breadcrumb?
Yes, but panko is king for maximum crispiness. Traditional breadcrumbs are fine, but may be less crunchy.
How to make this in Air Fryer?
Absolutely! Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Lightly spray breaded shrimp with oil and cook in batches for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.

Well, I thought it quite interesting to put the shrimp in the egg/milk wash, then drain them and add the drained shrimp to the panko. But the panko doesn’t stick to the shrimp with this method. So I rinsed off the shrimp and started over dipping the shrimp in flour then egg then panko. Voila!
