Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs medium shrimp, peeled and devained
  • 1½ lbs mussels, cleaned
  • ½ cup yellow onion, diced
  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 8 minced garlic cloves, divided
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 Jalapeno pepper, diced
  • 2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 (8 oz. can) tomato sauce spanish style
  • ½ cup dry white cooking wine
  • olive oil or butter, melted
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Fill a large bowl with water and soak up the mussels for about 20-30 minutes.
  2. Remove from the water and remove any beards and rinse off clearly.
  3. Season shrimp with 4 minced minced garlic, salt and pepper. Set aside.
  4. Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil. Place the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 2 minutes per side or until pink and slightly like C shape .
  5. Remove and set to the side. Cook the remaining shrimp.
  6. Set on medium heat. Add melted butter. Add the pepper, diced onion and bell pepper. Season with salt and pepper and saute for about about 4-5 minutes or until soft.
  7. Add the diced tomatoes and the remaining minced garlic. Stir cook for about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Add white wine, tomato sauce, and water. Bring to a simmer. Add the mussels and gently stir. Cover with a lid and simmer for about 3-4 4 minutes or until the mussels have opened.
  9. Add the cooked shrimp and stir to combine. Top with freshly chopped parsley and enjoy immediately with crusty bread to soak up the garlicy creamy sauce.
