Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw large shrimp, peeled and deveined (large size)
  • Creole Cajun Seasoning, store bought
  • 6 tablespoons butter, unsalted
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
  • 8 cloves of garlic, minced or pressed
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, freshly chopped, divided
  • For serving: crusty bread or pasta

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the shrimp with paper towel. Transfer to a bowl, season with Cajun seasoning. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Toss to coat and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. Heat a large skillet on medium heat. Add remaining olive oil. Add the shrimp and cook 1-2 minutes on each side or until pink and opaque. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  3. Add the butter and chopped shallot, sauté for about 2-3 minutes or until translucent and lightly caramelizes.
  4. Add in garlic, and stir for about 30s to 1 minutes or until fragrant. Add red pepper flakes at this point.
  5. Deglaze the skillet by adding lemon juice and white wine. Scrape up those delicious bits from the bottom.
  6. Bring to a simmer, and simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add the chicken broth and add in the miso paste. Give it a good mix and cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring often.
  8. Add the sautéed shrimp into the pan along with any juices and chopped parsley. Toss to coat and cook for 1 more minute. Remove from heat.
  9. Garnish with remaining parsley. Serve immediately with warm, crusty bread, cooked rice or pasta.
