Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp peeled, large sized, tails attached or removed
  • 16 ounces gnocchi
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 yellow onion, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 heaping tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon hot honey
  • ⅓ cup heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 cup chicken broth or water
  • Red pepper flakes optional, to taste
  • ⅓ cup parsley, freshly minced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot water to a boil. Add salt, then, add the gnocchi and cook until they float up. Drain and rinse thoroughly.
  2. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Season with salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
  3. Heat pot over medium-high heat. Add oil. Once hot, add 2 tablespoons butter. Add the shrimp in single layer and fry for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes or until no longer pink and opaque. Transfer them to a large bowl.
  5. In the pot over medium heat, add remaining butter. Add the onion and stir cook for about 8-10 minutes or until just brown and softened.
  6. Add the honey and stir to coat with the onions. Add the flour stir cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Pour in the broth and continue stirring until completely smooth and starts to bubble. Stir in Parmesan and cream. Adjust the taste with salt, pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes and simmer for 5-6 minutes.
  8. Stir in the zest and lemon juice with freshly chopped parsley. Add the cooked shrimp and gnocchi and continue to cook for 3–5 minutes until warmed through. Adjust the seasoning.
  9. Garnish with more parsley and enjoy immediately.
